Enclosure recommendations

Chinese water dragons do best in large, tall Paludarium-style enclosures with a minimum enclosure size requirement of 4×2×4ft.

A filtered or regularly changed water area should take up a large part of the floorspace, with plenty of branches, cork, platforms, vines and plants added to provide climbing opportunities as they spend a lot of their time resting high on branches above the water.

They should be provided with UV lighting and thermostatically controlled overhead heating. They have high humidity requirements so a digital thermo-hygrometer should be in place to measure humidity and temperature within the enclosure accurately.

The correct multivitamin supplement schedule is particularly imperative for this species.
