  • Diet: Opportunistic, omnivorous feeders who require a very varied diet of fish, worms, pellets, crayfish, snails, crustaceans, invertebrates etc

  • Natural Habitat: Freshwater riverbeds of North America

Enclosure recommendations

Should be housed alone due to their incredibly strong bite-force which can seriously injure other inhabitants.

Require a large indoor or protected and insulated outdoor pond as an enclosure, with strong filtration (but slow water flow), a water heater, and an accessible area for them to leave the water and bask under UV lighting.
