  • Suitability: Well-researched beginners

Enclosure recommendations

Cane Toads should be housed in very large glass terrariums or adapted aquariums with adequate ventilation, as they are a very large and active species.

They should be provided with thermostatically controlled heating, like a heat mat attached to an outside wall of the enclosure.

Digital thermometers or a heat gun should be used to accurately measure temperatures, and a hygrometer used to measure humidity.

They do best on a soil-based substrate, with a large shallow water dish that is refreshed daily along with naturalistic decoration and hides.
