Age: LTC (long-term captive) Adults
Sex: Male and Female Pair (1:1)
Priced as a pair
Handling: Best kept as a display species due to their shy nature
Suitability: Keepers with experience are preferred due to their specific husbandry requirements
Natural Habitat: Rainforests of New Guinea
Diet: Live insects, including earthworms
Enclosure recommendations
Red-eyed Crocodile Skinks should be housed in terrestrial glass terrariums measuring 60×45×30cm as a minimum size.
Heavily cluttered, live-planted bioactive environments with plenty of cork pieces, a soil substrate and leaf litter are highly recommended.
This species have high humidity requirements of 70-90%, but the enclosure should not become stagnant or swampy.
A thermostatically controlled heat source should be provided, with care taken to make sure that temperatures never exceed 30c. Temperatures should be measured with a digital thermometer or heat gun for accuracy.
Low-level shade dweller UV lighting is recommended.
