  • Handling: Tame down well with positive interaction and confidence once acclimatised

  • Suitability: Keepers with experience and the ability to provide a large enclosure

  • Average Adult size range: 3ft - 5ft long

  • Natural Habitat: Southern Africa, often found in burrows

  • Adult enclosure size: 8x4x4ft minimum

  • Baby enclosure size: 6x2x2ft minimum

  • Heating babies: Thermostatically controlled overhead basking bulb

  • Heating adults: Larger basking area made from a cluster of multiple basking bulbs to heat their entire body evenly

  • Very high basking temperature requirements
