Bosc Monitors, also known as Savannah Monitors (Varanus exanthematicus), are an iconic pet monitor lizard known for their ability to become puppy-dog tame! This little one is at a great age to start working with!

Age: CF (captive farmed) Baby
Sex: Unsexed
Handling: Tame down well with positive interaction and confidence once acclimatised
Suitability: Keepers with experience and the ability to provide a large enclosure
Adult size range: 2.5ft - 4ft
Natural Habitat: Coastal plains of sub-Saharan Africa, often found in burrows
Enclosure recommendations
Bosc Monitors can be housed in 4×2×2ft vivariums as babies, but require 8×4×4ft enclosures when they are an adult as a minimum size.
When in their baby enclosure, they should have a thermostatically-controlled overhead basking bulb. Adult’s require a larger basking area made up of a cluster of multiple basking bulbs to heat their entire body evenly.
They have very high basking temperature requirements, and should be provided with high-range UV lighting.
They also have higher humidity requirements within their enclosure, and should have a very deep soil-based substrate layer to allow for burrowing in addition to lots of hides, clutter and enrichment.
Digital thermo-hygrometers should be used to accurately measure temps and humidity.
