We are looking for a loving home for this little baby who did not have the best start to life!

Bosc Monitors, also known as Savannah Monitors (Varanus exanthematicus), are an iconic pet monitor lizard known for their ability to become puppy-dog tame! This little one is at a great age to start working with!

  • Imperfect - Sadly, this little baby arrived at our shop with burns. Although these are healing well, they will be left with heavy scarring for life.

  • Handling: Tame down well with positive interaction and confidence once acclimatised

  • Suitability: Keepers with experience and the ability to provide a large enclosure

  • Adult size range: 2.5ft - 4ft

  • Natural Habitat: Coastal plains of sub-Saharan Africa, often found in burrows

Kit recommendations

  • Adult enclosure size: 8x4x4ft minimum

  • Baby enclosure size: 4x2x2ft minimum

  • Heating babies: Thermostatically controlled overhead basking bulb

  • Heating adults: Larger basking area made from a cluster of multiple basking bulbs to heat their entire body evenly

  • Digital thermometer / heat gun and hygrometer

  • Very high basking temperature requirements and high humidity requirements

  • 12 - 14% T5 UV lighting

  • Very deep soil-based substrate layer to allow for burrowing
