  • Handling: Best kept as a display species, but will tolerate handling once used to their new owner

  • Suitability: Knowledgeable keepers who can meet their enclosure requirements

Enclosure recommendations

Adult Sailfin Dragons require an enclosure measuring at least 5×2×5ft (LxDxH) or larger for bigger adult males, with a raised basking platform.

A cluster of multiple basking bulbs together create a larger basking area to allow the Sailfin to warm their entire body evenly.

Temperatures and humidity should be measured with a digital thermo-hygrometer. UV lighting is essential.

Babies can be housed in smaller versions of this, but we do advise that the adult enclosure is prepared or planned for in advance.

They are highly arboreal, which means they require plenty of climbing opportunities in the form of branches, vines, platforms and plants. They appreciate a large water bowl that allows them to bathe if they desire.

Sailfin Dragons do very well in live-planted bioactive enclosures with plenty of cover.
